This event will bring Spain's leading financial institutions and investors, that have no affinity to health tech, biotech and the rest of the deep science sectors. The aim is to introduce and effectively communicate why investing in science ventures may be an excellent alternative for investment.

The objectives of this event are to:

  • Bring together the Spanish Business Angel Networks’ members in one exclusive event
  • bring top European investors and investment professionals from different sectors
  • enable Spanish investors to attend an exceptional networking event
  • make national investors more confident about investing in deep science
  • facilitate the growth of Spanish network of investors

Nicholas Ibery

Mr. Nicholas Ibery is an Associate Partner at Pangea Investors LLP. Mr. Ibery has extensive experience in the healthcare sector, having held a range of leadership positions in both public and private sector organizations, and advised a number of multinationals corporations, regulators and the UK government. Mr. Ibery is a doctor and a lawyer, his clinical specialty is neurosurgery and legal focus is corporate merger and acquisition.

Xavier Casares

Mr. Casares is currently President of Tibidabo Ventures, Business Innovation Commissioner at the Instituto Tecnológico Leitat and President of the Spanish Mentoring Association. Additionally he works with many different companies, organizations, universities, public administrations and private investors in  Spain, California and Colombia. Mr. Casares has been the founder of Servijob.com, the Business Angels Keiretsu Forum Spain network, the venture capital forum ForoCapitalPymes and the CITIC-Center of Industrial Technological Innovation of Colombia. As an investor he participated in the startup Verbio Technologies and co-founded the Spanish Association of Business Angels (AEBAN).

Albert Barberà

Mr. Barberà is currently the director of Biocat, the governmental organization that coordinates and promotes life sciences sector in Catalonia. He has a degree in Chemistry and Pharmacy and a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Mr. Barberà has held several positions in science management, first as the manager of the Institute of Health Carlos III Spanish Biomedical Research Centre in Diabetes and Associated Metabolic Disorders (CIBERDEM), later as scientific coordinator at IDIBAPS and, finally, as director of the IDIBGi. Over his career, he has obtained professional experience in both research and management of knowledge and innovation in the biomedical research environment and in health.

 

Currently all major Spanish Business Angel Networks have confirmed attendance and we are partnering with IESE and ESADE, two of the world’s top business schools, among other major local stakeholders, to deliver a high-end event.
